Campaigners slam Treasury for 'procrastinating approach' on cash acceptance
A lack of action from the government to tackle declining cash acceptance could lead to a two-tier society with the most vulnerable bearing the cost, a new report by the Treasury Committee finds. Accusing the committee of procrastinating the required actions, cash campaigners have slammed the report for being in alliance with "Labour Governments misguided non-intervention policy in relation to cash acceptance". Ron Delnevo, spokesperson of the Payment Choice Alliance, told Asian Trader, "The Treasury Committee, which once prided itself on being independent, has spent the last six months coming up with a Report that ignores the clear evidence that action is needed now, in favour of sticking to the Labour Governments misguided non-intervention policy in relation to cash acceptance.
"Every one of the UK’s nearest neighbours has put the interests and wishes of the public first, introducing legal measures to compel businesses to accept cash.
